Purpose of the app

The 4GOAL app was created in response to our client’s identified need for a platform within the soccer community. The main goal of the project is to support the youngest participants in the soccer world, enabling them to develop their talents from as early as 5 years old to the professional level.

Additionally, the app aims to level the playing field for development opportunities between children in smaller towns and villages and those in larger cities, who often have better access to professional training and expert support.

Who was the customer?

4GOAL is a group of enthusiasts dedicated to assisting young talents in their soccer careers. As a highly energetic team, the guys were seeking a creatively strong partner with not only extensive technological knowledge but also a willingness to advise on the development of engaging new functionalities.

“appvinio’s support was very helpful for us at every stage during the development. We could trust their experience, thanks to which the planned solutions were constantly improved and the final application was more attractive for users.

We rate appvinio as a very good and recommendable partner.”

How have we done it?

Analyzing current trends in social media apps and competition, we’ve developed a mobile application where users upload short videos showcasing their workouts and skill levels. This way, they build their profile and visibility, ultimately increasing their chances of being noticed by the professional football world.

We based the 4GOAL app on short films because it’s a format that quickly and strongly engages users, especially when targeting children and teenagers.

Key features

In order to make the 4GOAL app’s coneption work realistically, we knew that we needed to design and implement several key functionalities. Thanks to them, we took care of, among other things, easy reception and creation of video content, the basic form of content, as well as mechanics to engage users, thanks to which the community of the application is gradually expanding.

Video player

Since video is the main form of content in the app, we analyzed the mechanics and gestures used in the most popular social media apps. Based on this, we developed a player that is intuitive and very simple to use, making users engage with the available content from the beginning.

Video editor

Valuable and well-crafted videos are a basic requirement at 4GOAL. That’s why we analyzed the applications that allow video editing and prepared our own set of functions that will help us easily and quickly tweak our video, gaining more views and having fun at the same time.

Challenges

Engaging users is the biggest challenge of social networking applications, so we have developed a challenge module as one of the tools that supports this process. The module takes advantage of the creation of viral videos, through more people joining the challenge, thus creating content that reaches a wider audience and cranks out higher numbers of views.

Fame and Skill

Another of the mechanics we used in the app to engage users more strongly is gamification. The app gives users the opportunity to develop their profile toward greater skill – “Skill”, or greater recognition – “Fame”. In today’s football world, both are needed, so users develop their profiles by performing certain actions and bonding more strongly with the app.

Reaction and comments

One of the basic mechanics of engaging users, which could not be missing in 4GOAL as well. Everyone likes to see more reactions and cool comments, and it’s no different with 4GOAL app users. These actions not only drive users to action, but also increase the popularity of our videos.

What the project schedule looked like

01

Project workshops

March 2021 r.

We initiated the project with workshop meetings alongside the 4GOAL team, during which we developed the application concept. We worked on elements such as the business goal, value proposition, target audience, and, as a result, identified key functionalities that would enable us to achieve these objectives.

02

Business analysis

March – April 2021 r.

With a solid foundation established during the workshops, we began analyzing key and essential functionalities, delving much deeper into details and preparing ready-made materials for the development team.

03

Development and testing

April – November 2021 r.

It was time to roll up our sleeves and kick off the sprint, or more precisely, multiple sprints. Working in an agile methodology, over two-week periods, we constructed and tested new functionalities, culminating in presentations for the 4GOAL team.

04

Launch and further development

November 2021 r. – today

Sprint after sprint led us to the completion of the first version of the project, which we published on Google Play and the AppStore. However, the story doesn’t end here, as together with 4GOAL, we continue to evolve the application by adding new and exciting modules.

The results of our work

Thanks to a smooth implementation, within the first 3 months of the application’s operation, we managed to attract nearly 2,000 users who generated traffic in the form of 60,000 video views.

But this is not the end of our successes, as the project was awarded the title of the best startup application in Poland at the prestigious Mobile Trends Awards gala. We were recognized among many other companies and awarded for the development of 4GOAL.app. This is a great victory and a big success, of which we are extremely proud!
